A man whose body was discovered inside a suitcase in woodland in Kent has been identified by the Metropolitan Police as the 34-year-old Dale Mundell from Islington.
Mundell’s corpse was found on July 10 after officers were called to a property in Wimbledon, south-west London the previous day, following a report of a potential murder.
Joshua Miller, 32, of Kingfisher Court, Wimbledon, appeared via video link at Medway Magistrates’ Court charged with murder on July 8 and preventing a lawful burial on July 9.
Co-defendant Jamie Cooper, 27, of the same address, appeared alongside Miller and faces charges of preventing a lawful burial.
Mundell’s body was recovered from a wooded area at Borstal Recreation Ground, where a children’s teddy bear hunt was being hosted.
Officers initially attended the scene in Wimbledon after receiving a welfare report at around 10.55pm on Thursday.
Upon arrival, the Met confirmed that no-one was found in the property, however following a search, officers believed someone had come to harm at the address and an investigation was launched.
Police have confirmed that Mundell and the two men charged were known to each other.
