Super Falcons striker Chinwendu Ihezuo has said the upcoming 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco will be more difficult than the last edition, but she is confident Nigeria can defend the title and qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Ihezuo explained that the tournament will be tougher because teams will not only be fighting for the continental title but also for places at the next Women’s World Cup.
She urged the Super Falcons not to be complacent despite being defending champions.
According to her, the team’s unity, determination and hard work will be key to their success in Morocco.
“We know this tournament will be very challenging because every team wants a World Cup ticket. We must stay focused and work hard. I believe in this team and our ability to achieve our goals,” she said.
Ihezuo also gave an update on her fitness after spending time on the sidelines with an injury.
