Cleric Says 2021 Prophecy Foretold South Africa Xenophobic Crisis

The founder of Abuja-based Everlasting Light of Hope International Ministry (The ELOHIM), Prophet Wiseman Daniel, has said prophetic warnings he issued in 2021 about rising xenophobic tensions in South Africa have been fulfilled following recent attacks on foreign nationals in the country.

The cleric, who is also the founder of Elohim Global TV and a protégé of the late Prophet T.B. Joshua, recalled that he had warned South African authorities to address growing frustration among the country’s youths to avert a major crisis.

According to a statement from the ministry on Thursday, the prophet first delivered the warning during a live broadcast on September 26, 2021, where he described South African youths as being deeply angry with both their government and parents.

He reportedly urged the authorities to engage the youths in dialogue, warning that failure to do so could lead to actions that would endanger both the country and foreign residents.

The statement quoted him as saying, “The youths of South Africans are very angry. They are angry with their governments and their parents. They need to be called to the table for dialogue because their next move will be too dangerous for the nation and the foreigners.”

It added that the cleric repeated the warning during the ministry’s Crossover Night service on December 31, 2021, stressing that the country’s leadership should prioritise the economic and psychological well-being of young people to prevent foreigners from becoming targets of public frustration.

The ministry said the warning has gained renewed attention following reported anti-migrant protests and attacks in parts of South Africa in 2026, allegedly fuelled by economic hardship, high youth unemployment and migration-related tensions.

According to the statement, the unrest led to attacks on foreign-owned businesses and residential communities, prompting diplomatic concerns and safety advisories from several African countries.

Reacting to the development, Wiseman Daniel expressed sympathy with victims of the attacks and assured them of continued prayers.

“At Elohim Global TV, we shall continue to pray for you all, and God shall restore every investment you have lost in South Africa,” he said.

The cleric also urged African leaders to address the root causes of unemployment, poverty and social discontent, arguing that lasting solutions require economic reforms and responsible leadership rather than temporary political measures.
