The Minister of State for Regional Development, Alhaji Uba Maigari, has declared that no opposition political party or coalition poses a serious threat to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in the 2027 general elections.
Alhaji Maigari made the assertion in Jalingo after a stakeholders’ meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Taraba State, where party leaders deliberated on issues affecting the party and preparations ahead of future elections.
According to the Minister, the opposition has failed to present a credible alternative capable of convincing Nigerians to vote against the incumbent president.
“I can tell you for free that the victory in 2027 will be very loud. Look at the opposition candidates. Apart from moving from one political party to another, what have they done to make Nigerians want to vote for them? Nothing,” he said.
He argued that, President Tinubu had laid a solid foundation for another electoral victory through investments in infrastructure, education, healthcare, human capital development and economic reforms.
“The President has brought about strategic developments across various sectors of the country. Whether it is physical infrastructure, education, health, human capital development or economic reforms, the achievements are there for Nigerians to see. He has prepared the ground for a convincing victory in 2027,” Maigari added.
The Minister also commended Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas for fostering unity within the APC in the state, saying the governor had ensured inclusiveness among party stakeholders.
“I want to put it on record that, all things considered, I am satisfied with the performance of the governor, and I believe it is good enough to earn him another victory.
“As critical stakeholders, we will continue to guide him in the right direction so that together we can build the Taraba of our dream,” he said.
Alhaji Maigari also dismissed allegations that the APC was using state institutions to intimidate opposition politicians, insisting that public institutions were only carrying out their constitutional responsibilities.
“State institutions are meant to function effectively. When they investigate or engage individuals over genuine issues, it is not correct to reduce everything to politics. People should be bold enough to face their issues.
“As a party, we are too well positioned and confident of victory to resort to intimidation or harassment of political opponents,” the Minister stated.
