Genoa Join Fiorentina In Race For Nigeria Striker Arokodare

Italian Serie A side Genoa have entered the race to sign Nigerian forward Tolu Arokodare from Wolverhampton Wanderers, setting up a transfer battle with fellow top-flight club Fiorentina.

Arokodare is expected to leave Wolves following the club’s relegation from the Premier League, with the 25-year-old keen to continue playing in a top-flight league rather than feature in the Championship.

The Nigerian striker scored six goals across all competitions for Wolves last season and has reportedly informed the club of his desire to move on this summer.

According to Italian newspaper Il Secolo XIX, Genoa have identified Arokodare as one of their priority attacking targets as they seek to strengthen their squad ahead of the 2026/27 Serie A campaign.

Fiorentina have been leading the chase for the former Genk striker and are understood to have proposed a loan deal with an option to buy. Reports suggest the agreement would include a purchase clause worth around €22 million.

However, Genoa’s emergence has added a new twist to the transfer saga, with the club hopeful of convincing Arokodare to make the switch to the Stadio Luigi Ferraris.

Wolves are prepared to sanction the striker’s departure but are expected to hold firm on their valuation rather than accept unfavourable terms.

Fiorentina’s pursuit could also be complicated by restrictions on non-European Union player registrations, potentially handing Genoa an advantage in negotiations.

With interest in the Nigerian continuing to grow, Arokodare’s future is expected to be one of the transfer stories to watch as the summer window gathers momentum.
