Fubara Backs Tinubu’s Re-Election, Declares Support For Rivers Rainbow Coalition

Rivers State governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has formally declared his support for the Rivers Rainbow Coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections, endorsing President Bola Tinubu for a second term and calling on his supporters to back all candidates presented by the political movement.

The Rainbow Coalition is a political alliance comprising members of different political parties in Rivers State, led by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.

Fubara made the declaration on Wednesday during the groundbreaking ceremony for the reconstruction and equipping of the Riven Medical Facility, a public-private partnership pharmaceutical manufacturing project in Rivers State.

Announcing what appears to be a major political realignment, the governor said the era of political conflict in the state had ended and urged stakeholders to embrace peace and unity.

“I am supporting our Rainbow Coalition. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is our President, and he is the one we are supporting. The governorship candidate is the candidate I am supporting, and anybody who believes in me will support every candidate under the Rainbow Coalition,” Fubara declared.

The governor also dismissed suggestions that he should delay aligning with the coalition, saying he had already made his decision.

“I am already in the family. I have returned to our family. Give your total support to the coalition. The time of war is over; it is now time for peace, and that peace will take us to another level,” he said.

Fubara further cautioned against actions capable of reigniting political tensions in the state, insisting that his administration would not be associated with anything that could undermine the prevailing peace.

“I am not party to anything that will bring any form of disunity in this state. We have done what we need to do, and now we are moving forward,” the governor added.

Regarding the investment project, Fubara reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the successful delivery of the medical consumables factory, noting that the government only endorsed the initiative after receiving assurances from investors and relevant officials regarding its feasibility and completion timeline.

According to him, the first phase of the project is expected to be completed within three months and will serve as a catalyst for industrialisation, job creation and economic growth in Rivers State.

He said the facility would position the state as a hub for the production of medical consumables, attract both local and international patronage, and stimulate the establishment of supporting industries around the project.

The governor also assured investors of the state’s continued support while urging the host community to cooperate with the company to ensure the project’s success.

Fubara stressed the importance of maintaining investor confidence by avoiding unnecessary contractual disputes, disclosing that the Rivers State Government is currently involved in litigation with several companies over claims exceeding ₦200 billion.

He, however, expressed optimism that the first phase of the factory would be completed and officially commissioned within the next three months, pledging that the government would closely monitor the project’s implementation.
