The suspects reportedly confessed during interrogation that the vehicle they had been using to carry out criminal activities was stolen in Lapai, Niger State.

The suspects allegedly admitted that, about six months ago, they conspired to steal a Volkswagen vehicle with registration number WDL 765 ZY at Maraban-Gulu, near Lapai.

They further confessed that the vehicle was taken to Kaduna State, where it had since been used for commercial transportation between Kaduna and Kano states, as well as for other alleged criminal activities.

The stolen vehicle has been recovered, and the suspects are currently undergoing further investigation at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID). Police said efforts are ongoing to identify and reunite the vehicle with its rightful owner.

In a separate operation, a police surveillance patrol team attached to the Tudun-Wada Division arrested two suspects on July 14, 2026, at about 11:00 p.m. along the M.I. Wushishi Estate Junction in Minna.

The suspects, aged 19 and 20, were intercepted while riding in a tricycle.

A search conducted on them led to the recovery of three plastic toy pistols and 16 expired ATM cards belonging to different banks.

During interrogation, the suspects claimed they found the ATM cards while scavenging in Lagos. However, police said they are strongly suspected of using the toy guns to rob unsuspecting victims around the M.I. Wushishi Estate axis.

The suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue.
