Ukrainian strikes on Moscow-occupied territory and a Russian border village killed six people Sunday, as this summer sees a significant rise in civilian deaths in the more than four-year war.
A Russian attack on a residential building in Ukraine’s Kharkiv killed another person, Kyiv said.
The strikes come a day after 20 people were killed on both sides of the frontline, with both Kyiv and Moscow intensifying attacks while diplomacy to end the war — launched by Russia in 2022 — is at a deadlock.
In Moscow-held Gorlivka in eastern Ukraine, a Ukrainian drone strike killed four people, Russian occupational authorities there said.
Another person was killed in the occupied part of the Kherson region, Moscow-installed officials there said.

Authorities in Russia’s border Belgorod region said one person was killed by a Ukrainian drone in the village of Smorodino.
The attacks came a day after Moscow said a Ukrainian strike on an occupied town on the Azov Sea killed 12 people.
In Kyiv, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said emergency services were working at a residential building in Kharkiv hit by a Russian drone attack.
“Tragically, one person was killed and nine others were injured, including two children,” he said.
“The capital was struck by ballistic missiles, and three people were injured,” Zelensky added.
US-led talks on ending fighting have stalled. The Kremlin occupies swathes of eastern and southern Ukraine and has repeatedly said it intends to seize the rest of east Ukraine by force.
