The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State has formally unveiled a former Secretary of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the state, Rev. Cornelius Fawenu, as the running mate to the party’s governorship candidate, Engr. Suleiman Kawu, for the 2027 governorship election.
The governorship candidate, Engr. Suleiman Kawu, formally communicated his choice of Fawenu as his preferred running mate in a letter addressed to the state chairman of the party after extensive consultations with party stalwarts, leaders, and key stakeholders across the three senatorial districts of Kwara State.
In his letter, Kawu described Fawenu as a man of proven integrity, humility, compassion, and exceptional leadership qualities.
The PDP, in a statement signed by the state Publicity Secretary, Olusegun Adewara, stated that Fawenu would join Kawu on the party’s gubernatorial ticket after the latter had earlier emerged as the party’s governorship candidate.
“The PDP proudly informs Kwarans at home and in the diaspora that the emergence of Reverend Fawenu followed extensive consultations, deliberations, and a rigorous selection process involving the party’s governorship candidate and critical stakeholders from the three senatorial districts of the state,” the statement said.
