US lawmaker proposes bill to ban immigration from three African countries

A United States lawmaker, Nancy Mace, has proposed a bill to ban immigration from three African countries over security concerns.

The countries, which the lawmaker tagged as “Third World Hellholes,” are Somalia, Sudan and South Sudan.

The proposal was disclosed in a statement posted on her official website on Wednesday.

She said the bill is aimed at protecting American communities from what she described as the security risks associated with the three countries.

“Today, Congresswoman Nancy Mace (R-SC) announced her plans to introduce legislation to ban immigration from Somalia, Sudan, and South Sudan, protecting American communities from the instability and security threats these nations bring,” the statement read.

According to her, the US will not put the interests of foreign nationals ahead of the safety and security of her citizens.

The lawmaker added that that Somalia, Sudan and South Sudan are among the world’s most dangerous and unstable nations.

She said US should not repeat what she described as the immigration mistakes made by some European nations.
