Igboho’s Iru Ekun, Police Rescue Abducted Oyo Woman, Son In Kwara

Yoruba Nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has announced the rescue of a woman abducted in Igbope, Oorelope Local Government Area of Oyo State, along with her son, following a security operation in Kwara State.

Igboho, founder of the Iru Ekun Security Network, said his operatives, working alongside the Nigeria Police Force’s Intelligence Response Team, engaged the kidnappers in a fierce gun battle in the early hours of Saturday, leading to the rescue of the victims, Adijat Kubura Aliqlas and her son, Abdulmalik.

In a a statement issued by his media office and made available to newsmen in Ibadan on Saturday, Igboho said the operation lasted about three days and was driven by intelligence gathering and tracking.

He added that the kidnappers were lured into a trap after agreeing to collect a ransom.

According to the statement, the abductors fled with gunshot wounds after the exchange of fire and abandoned the victims in the forest.

“My team and I, alongside ASP Amos Ajegoke and other police officers, spent several days in the forest tracking the movement of the hoodlums to determine their location.

“On July 2, we discovered they were around Bode Sadu, before Jebba. We moved there and remained in the area until Friday night.

“At about 12:00 a.m. on Saturday, they came to collect the ransom as agreed. We immediately launched an attack, and a gun battle ensued. We pursued them deep into the forest, forcing them to flee. They abandoned Adijat Kubura and Abdulmalik during their escape.

“We later heard the victims crying for help, traced their voices and rescued them. They are currently receiving medical treatment at Igboho General Hospital,” he said.

Igboho also credited the success of the operation to the support of the Inspector-General of Police.

“It is important to state that this operation succeeded because of the valuable support of the Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, who maintained communication with the Commissioners of Police in Kwara and Niger States. That collaboration made the difficult operation successful after several days and nights in the forests,” he added.

The activist reaffirmed his commitment to protecting lives and property, assuring residents of Oke-Ogun and Oyo State that his security network would continue to support lawful efforts aimed at improving security.

He also urged Nigerians to remain calm, support legitimate security operations and refrain from spreading unverified information capable of causing unnecessary panic.
