Wumi Toriola Tells Colleagues To Stop Sending ‘A Queen Was Born’ Birthday Messages

Nollywood actress Wumi Toriola has shared a light-hearted but firm public service announcement ahead of her birthday, urging friends and colleagues to keep their birthday wishes simple.

Taking to Instagram, the actress said she doesn’t expect expensive gifts from anyone, stressing that genuine love and warm wishes mean far more to her.

However, she admitted there is one popular birthday phrase she would rather people avoid.

According to Wumi, messages that begin with “A queen was born” are a major trigger for her, and she would much rather receive a straightforward “Happy Birthday.”

“No be by force to give me gifts on my birthday. Your love is enough. Please don’t just start with ‘A queen was born’. That thing na trigger. Abeg, HBD better pass ‘A queen was born’, she wrote.

The actress has never shied away from expressing her views publicly. Ahead of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards in May, she jokingly warned fans against comparing her red carpet outfit to anyone else’s, admitting that fashion isn’t exactly her strongest suit.

She urged admirers to simply compliment her look without drawing comparisons.

Wumi has also previously described herself as someone who follows her own path with confidence, saying she refuses to be distracted by public opinions, trends or unnecessary noise.
