The management and alumni of Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, Ile-Ife, have expressed confidence that the appointment of Engr. Joseph Tegbe as Minister of Power will accelerate Nigeria’s quest for stable and efficient electricity supply.
The university’s Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Olarewaju, in a statement, described Tegbe an an individual with impeccable character, proven competence and unwavering commitment to national development.
Olarewaju stated: “He has, over the years, distinguished himself as an accomplished administrator, astute technocrat and visionary leader whose impressive record of service, in both the public and private sectors, has earned him widespread respect and admiration. His appointment is, therefore, a source of immense pride.”
In the statement, OAU’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adebayo Bamire, also said Tegbe possesses the intellectual capacity, wealth of experience, and administrative acumen required to provide the visionary leadership needed to reposition Nigeria’s power sector and make electricity more accessible, reliable and sustainable for the benefit of all Nigerians.
The Vice Chancellor noted that the appointment of Tegbe further underscores the enduring legacy of Obafemi Awolowo University as a foremost institution that continues to produce men and women of exceptional ability who are making remarkable contributions to nation-building and global development.
Meanwhile, lobal President of the Great Ife Alumni Association, Dr Leye Falode, said the entire OAU Alumni pledges its total, moral support and prayers, expressing optimism that his tenure will be marked by innovation, transformational leadership and landmark achievements.
