A Lagos State Magistrates’ Court has granted TikTok streamer Habeeb “Peller” Hamzat bail for ₦500,000 in a case involving the Lagos State Police Command.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed to PREMIUM TIMES that the content creator was arrested and subsequently arraigned before the court on Monday. Peller and his friend, Bello Oladipo, appeared in court over an incident that occurred on 2 July along the Coastal Road in Lekki, Lagos.
The pair faced three charges: resisting police officers, obstructing officers from carrying out their duties, and allegedly threatening and recording police personnel whilst they performed lawful duties.
According to a report in the Leadership newspaper on Tuesday, the court granted bail to the 21-year-old and Oladipo, each requiring two sureties. The court directed that one of the sureties must be a blood relative, and both must provide tax clearance certificates covering the previous two years.
Charges
The three counts read as follows:
“That you, Bello Oladipo and Habeeb Hamzat, of No. 16, Platinum Road, Lekki Phase 2, on the 2nd day of July 2026, at approximately 20:00, at Coastal Road, Lekki, Lagos, within the Magisterial district of this Honourable Court, did conspire amongst yourselves to commit a felony, to wit: resisting public officers, and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 411 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015.”
“That you, Bello Oladipo and Habeeb Hamzat, of Number 16, Platinum Road, Lekki Phase 2, on the 2nd day of July 2026, at approximately 20:00, at Coastal Road, Lekki, Lagos, within the Magisterial district of this Honourable Court, did obstruct one ASP Agbede Victor and three other police officers whilst engaged in the discharge of their constituted duties, and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable by Section 117 (1) (2) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015.
“That you, Bello Oladipo and Habeeb Hamzat, of Number 16, Platinum Road, Lekki Phase 2, on the 2nd day of July 2026, at approximately 20:00, at Coastal Road, Lekki, Lagos, within the Magisterial district of this Honourable Court, did unlawfully conduct yourselves in a manner likely to cause a breach of the public peace by threatening and filming police officers whilst performing their lawful duties, and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 168 (a) & (d) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015.”

Backstory
The newspaper gathered that Peller had an altercation with some police officers after they stopped him for allegedly driving a vehicle without a number plate.
Peller informed the officers that he had only recently purchased the car. However, the officers rejected this explanation and insisted that he accompany them to the police station. The situation escalated after Peller began recording his encounter with the officers. He alleged that the officers became aggressive, claiming that one of them pulled his shirt and pointed a gun at him.
Peller and Oladipo, who were in the vehicle at the time, were later arraigned in court. Peller recently made headlines after paying the bride price for his fiancée, TikToker Amadou “Jarvis” Aminata.
