Welsh singer Bonnie Tyler popularly known for her haunting love song “Total Eclipse of the Heart” has died at the age of 75.
The news of her death was announced by her family on Thursday. They revealed that her death was as a result of her health, revealing that she had been battling an undisclosed illness.
Bonnie was famous for her husky voice, tousled mane of blonde hair and black eyeliner. She was regarded as the queen of the power ballad in the 1980s.
“Bonnie’s family and team are heartbroken to announce that Bonnie unexpectedly passed away last night in hospital in Portugal as a result of the illness that she was being treated for,” her family said in a statement on Facebook.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer also reacted to the statement, stressing that he was saddened by the news of her death. He added that her music will continue to touch lives.
Bonnie released 17 studio albums and was nominated for three Grammy Awards during her career.
