ABUJA — Minister of Works, David Umahi, and Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, have described the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s victory in the recent Ekiti State governorship election as a reflection of public support for the party and its policies.

The two leaders spoke in Abuja during Oyebanji’s visit to the Federal Ministry of Works headquarters in Mabushi.

According to a statement issued by Umahi’s media aide, Francis Nwaze, both men attributed the party’s electoral success to ongoing federal infrastructure projects in Ekiti State, particularly road construction and rehabilitation.

Congratulating Governor Oyebanji, President Bola Tinubu and the APC, Umahi said the election outcome reflected the impact of the administration’s infrastructure agenda.

He stated that the Federal Government was undertaking road projects across the country, adding that infrastructure development was being distributed across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

Umahi also expressed confidence that the party would continue to enjoy public support ahead of the 2027 general elections.

On the newly approved Ado–Ijan–Ilumoba–Ikole Road project, the minister assured the governor that the contract would be awarded through a transparent procurement process and monitored to ensure quality execution.

Earlier, Governor Oyebanji said the APC’s electoral success in Ekiti was boosted by the Federal Government’s intervention in critical road infrastructure.

He cited the reconstruction of the Itawure–Aramoko–Ado Road, describing it as a project that had addressed a longstanding concern for residents and restored public confidence.

According to the governor, contractors commenced work on the road shortly after presidential approval, a development he said was well received by the people of the state.

Oyebanji also commended President Tinubu for approving the reconstruction of the Ado–Ijan–Ilumoba–Ikole Road, describing it as a major transport corridor linking southern and northern Nigeria.

He said his visit to the Ministry of Works was to express the appreciation of the Ekiti State Government and its people for the Federal Government’s support and infrastructure investments in the state.

The governor further described the Tinubu administration as one that has made significant infrastructure interventions in Ekiti, citing projects in the road, agriculture and health sectors.
