Oyo abduction: Eight kidnappers in DSS custody, others neutralised – Presidency

The presidency has revealed that some of the kidnappers who abducted pupils and teachers from schools in Orire, Oyo State, were neutralised by security operatives.

DAILY POST earlier reported that the victims were rescued on Friday after spending 56 days in captivity.

Confirming the development, President Bola Tinubu’s media aide, Bayo Onanuga, said in a post on X that while some of the abductors were killed, eight were arrested and are now in the custody of the Department of State Services, DSS.

He wrote: “In the course of the rescue operation, eight of the kidnappers were arrested and are now in DSS custody, while some of them were neutralised.

“There was no quid pro quo in the rescue, as one of the terrorists, a kingpin whose release the kidnappers demanded, is being prosecuted for his atrocities.

“The security agencies will give a full account soon.”
