2026 UTME Highest Scorer Receives ₦1m Scholarship

The overall best candidate in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), Daniella Owoeye Jesudunsin, has received a ₦1 million scholarship in recognition of her exceptional performance in the examination.

Owoeye disclosed the development in a Facebook post on Wednesday, expressing gratitude to the Ekiti Parapo in Indiana, United States, for the scholarship and acknowledging the support of her family, friends and well-wishers.

She described the honour as a memorable experience, saying she was overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and encouragement.

“It was truly a memorable and heartwarming moment to be celebrated and surrounded by the love of family, friends, and well-wishers. My heart is filled with profound gratitude,” she wrote.

The 16-year-old particularly appreciated the Ekiti Parapo in Indiana, USA, for the scholarship and support.

“I sincerely appreciate the Ekiti Parapo in Indiana, USA, for their exceptional care, generosity, and immeasurable love. Your kindness, support, and warm hospitality made the occasion even more special, and I do not take any of it for granted.”

She also thanked the Obaleo of Erinmope-Ekiti, Oba Dr. Sunday Aikuirawo Aniyi Amoyimade Atayese I; the President of Ekiti Parapo, Hon. Awoniyi; her parents, family members and other guests who attended the celebration.

Owoeye said she remained grateful for the recognition and prayed for everyone who contributed to her success.

LEADERSHIP recalls that Owoeye, an indigene of Erinmope-Ekiti in Moba Local Government Area of Ekiti State, emerged as the highest scorer in the 2026 UTME with an aggregate score of 372 out of 400 after sitting for the examination in Ogun State.

She scored 98 in English Language, 98 in Chemistry, 94 in Physics and 82 in Biology, and is seeking admission to study Medicine and Surgery at the University of Lagos (UNILAG).

Speaking after her result was announced, Owoeye attributed her outstanding performance to early preparation, consistency and strategic studying rather than spending long hours reading.

According to her, she relied on past examination questions, Computer-Based Test (CBT) applications, online tutorials and study groups while continuously identifying and improving her weak areas throughout her preparation.
