ABUJA- The Labour Party, LP, has finally received the access code from the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to upload the names and particulars of its candidates for the 2027 general election.
National Publicity Secretary of the LP, Ken Asogwa confirmed the development in Abuja, via telephone on Tuesday.
He said, “Yes, the codes were released to us yesterday. I received confirmation from our national chairman.”
Several political parties, including the Labour Party, had not confirmed receipt of the codes as of Sunday. Some parties involved in leadership disputes also expressed fears that the codes could fall into the wrong hands.
It was learnt that the electoral management body had insisted on following due process including taking into account judicial pronouncements before handling out the codes
The commission is yet to comment on the latest developments.
