60-Year-Old Man Dies In Jigawa Hotel

A 60-year-old man has died after reportedly developing breathing difficulties while staying at a hotel in Dutse, the Jigawa State capital.

The deceased had reportedly checked into the hotel with a 20-year-old woman before the incident occurred at about 12:50 p.m. on Tuesday, July 21, 2026.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the spokesperson for the Jigawa State Police Command, SP Lawan Shiisu Adam, said the man developed a medical emergency shortly after requesting a meal at the hotel.

According to the police, officers attached to the Yalwawa Division responded to a distress call and rushed the man to the General Hospital, Dutse, where he was confirmed dead by medical personnel.

“Police detectives thereafter secured the scene and conducted a preliminary examination,” the statement said.

The Command disclosed that food items, beverages, a suspected sexual enhancement substance and other personal effects were recovered from the hotel room for further examination.

The body was later released to the family for burial after all necessary procedures were completed.

Police said the 20-year-old woman who was with the deceased at the time of the incident is cooperating with investigators and providing information to help establish the circumstances surrounding the death.
