ABUJA: The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC has extended the deadline for submission of lists of candidates for the 2027 Presidential and National Assembly Elections by political parties, moving the cut-off from Saturday, July 11, 2026, to midnight on Tuesday, July 14, 2026.
In a statement issued by the National Commissioner and Chair, Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Kudu Haruna, on Sunday, the Commission said the deadline in the Revised Timetable and Schedule of Activities for the 2027 General Election had been extended following an appeal by the Inter-Party Advisory Council IPAC on behalf of political parties who were unable to upload the names and personal particulars of their candidates within the scheduled timeline.
INEC said the extension underscores its commitment to ensuring inclusivity in its practices, while acting within the ambit of the law.
The Commission enjoined political parties to take advantage of the window of opportunity and ensure that all necessary details are uploaded before the expiration of the new deadline.
