The Allied People’s Movement (APM) has commended the security agencies and Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, over the safe rescue and release of the schoolchildren and teachers who were abducted in the Orire area of the state on May 15, 2026.
The party described the development as a major relief, saying it brought an end to weeks of anxiety for the victims’ families, the academic community, the Oyo State Government and Nigerians who had followed the incident with concern.
In a statement issued on Friday by its National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Abubakar Yusuf, the APM praised the professionalism, resilience and coordinated efforts of the nation’s security agencies, including the military, the police and local intelligence units, for ensuring that the victims were rescued alive.
“The Allied People’s Movement expresses joy and immense relief over the rescue and release of the schoolchildren and teachers who were abducted on May 15, 2026, in the Orire area of Oyo State,” the statement said.
The party also lauded Governor Makinde for what it described as his exemplary leadership, responsiveness and unwavering commitment towards securing the release of the victims and maintaining security across the state.
According to the party, the governor’s administrative support and close collaboration with security agencies played a significant role in the successful rescue operation.
While celebrating the safe return of the victims, the APM stressed that the security of schools and communities across the country must remain a national priority.
It noted that no Nigerian child or teacher should be forced to pursue education under the threat of insecurity and called on governments at all levels to strengthen security around educational institutions, particularly in vulnerable communities.
The party urged authorities to build on the success of the rescue operation by implementing more proactive and effective security measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
The APM also expressed solidarity with the rescued pupils, teachers and their families, praying for their speedy recovery and rehabilitation after the traumatic experience.
