Benue Police Arrest 7 Additional Suspects Over Killing Of Miyetti Allah Leader

The Benue State Police Command has arrested seven additional suspects including a 80-year old Sylvester Ajonye in connection with the killing of the state chairman of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, (MACBAN), Alhaji Ardo Risku Mohammed.

Ardo Risku’s vehicle was intercepted and shot dead along with his associate Yakubu Isah on June 26th, 2026 in Okudu, Otukpo local government area while returning from a peace meeting in Ohimini local government area of the state.

Police had on June 27,2026 arrested 10 suspects link with the alleged killing of Miyetti Allah leader, assuring that investigations were ongoing to apprehend other suspects.

However, a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Edet Udeme, on Saturday said that the arrest of the suspects followed sustained intelligence gathering, painstaking investigation and continuous tactical operations.

The statement said those arrested were, Chief Morgan Ejaga, 43 years, Chief Moses Anteyi, 45 years, Chief John Ogli, 58 years, Chief Yawuhu Adaji, 49 years, Aba Alexander Uloko, 59 years and Fidelis Iduma, 45 years.

The Benue State Police Commissioner, Cletus Nwadiogbu, commended the commitment and professionalism of the investigating and tactical teams whose sustained efforts have continued to yield positive results, adding that investigation into the case was still ongoing.

He warned that any person found culpable in committing crime will be identified, apprehended and prosecuted in accordance with the law.

Nwadiogbu appealed to the public to remain calm, and continue to support the Police and other security agencies with credible and timely information that will aid the investigation.
