Canadian rapper and singer Drake has lost another major sports bet after Spain defeated Argentina in the 2026 FIFA World Cup final.
Spain beat Argentina 1-0 on Sunday to win the tournament, ending Argentina’s hopes of retaining the trophy.
Before the match, Drake placed a $1.5 million bet on Argentina to win. The bet was made through the betting platform Stake and would have earned him about $5.1 million if Argentina had been victorious.
The loss has once again sparked discussions about the popular “Drake Curse” theory. The theory suggests that teams and athletes publicly supported by Drake often end up losing important matches or competitions.
This is not the first time the Canadian superstar has suffered a betting setback. Earlier this year, he also lost money after backing former UFC champion Conor McGregor, who was beaten by Max Holloway.
Drake has developed a reputation for making high-profile sports bets, many of which have not gone his way. His betting record has become so famous that fans created a website, TheDrakeCurse.com, to track his predictions and gambling results.
