“It is nice meeting you,” Seyi told the 21-year-old streamer after they shook hands.
American streamer Darren Watkins Jr., popularly known as IShowSpeed, sparked laughter after asking Seyi Tinubu to help him secure a Nigerian passport during their meeting at the 2026 FIFA World Cup final.
The light-hearted encounter occurred in the VIP section of the New York New Jersey Stadium, where Seyi, son of President Bola Tinubu, watched Spain defeat Argentina 1-0 after extra time alongside his children and other family members.
Footage from IShowSpeed’s livestream showed the streamer approaching the family after a member of Seyi’s entourage informed him that the president’s son was present.
IShowSpeed greeted Seyi, posed for photographs with his children and exchanged pleasantries with the family.
“It is nice meeting you,” Seyi told the 21-year-old streamer after they shook hands.
IShowSpeed then jokingly said: “Tell your dad to get me a Nigerian passport!”
The remark drew laughter from those around them before the streamer continued his livestream.
Earlier, IShowSpeed had opened the World Cup closing ceremony with a performance of his latest single, “World Cup (Champions),” accompanied by drummers and dancers.
His passport joke came months after he visited Nigeria during his Speed Does Africa tour and received a rousing welcome from fans.
During his stay in Lagos, IShowSpeed visited Lagos Island, Freedom Park and the Nike Art Gallery. He also met Nigerian music stars Davido and Zlatan Ibile and celebrated his 21st birthday in the country.
