Niger State Governor, Umaru Bago, has called on members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state to remain united and continue supporting the party and his administration in the collective effort to advance the development of Niger State.
The governor made the appeal during a meeting with aspirants who contested but were unsuccessful in the APC primary elections for the Senate, House of Representatives and Niger State House of Assembly ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The meeting was held at the Hauwa Wali Multipurpose Hall, Government House, Minna.
Governor Bago commended the aspirants for their maturity, patience and commitment to the party throughout the primary election process, urging them to remain steadfast and continue contributing to the growth and progress of both the APC and the state.
He assured the aspirants that his administration operates an open-door policy and would provide opportunities for them to serve in various strategic positions, stressing that everyone has a role to play in building a stronger Niger State.
The governor reaffirmed his commitment to delivering good governance through people-centred policies and programmes, encouraging the aspirants to remain part of what he described as the state’s ongoing transformation.
He also reiterated his administration’s determination to complete all ongoing projects across the state before the expiration of his tenure.
Governor Bago further cautioned against the misuse of social media, warning individuals who deliberately spread false information and malicious propaganda to desist or face legal consequences.
He urged residents to make responsible use of the Freedom of Information Act, 2011, rather than disseminating unverified information capable of undermining public peace and confidence.
In separate remarks, the APC National Vice Chairman (North Central), Mu’azu Bawa, and the Niger State APC Chairman, Musa Bobi, commended Governor Bago for his inclusive leadership and efforts at strengthening unity within the party.
They described the meeting as a demonstration of the governor’s commitment to reconciliation and internal cohesion, noting that it would further consolidate the APC’s position in the state.
Representatives of the unsuccessful aspirants for the Niger State House of Assembly, House of Representatives and Senate also expressed appreciation to the governor for initiating the reconciliation meeting.
They pledged their continued loyalty to the APC and reaffirmed their commitment to working together with the governor and the party leadership to ensure the party’s success in future elections and the continued development of Niger State.
