Governor Bala Mohammed, has relieved two commissioners of their appointments in a minor cabinet reshuffle aimed at strengthening governance and improving service delivery in the state.
The affected commissioners are the Commissioner for Commerce, Industries and Investment, Hon. Mohammed Salis Gamawa, and the Commissioner for Power, Science and Technology, Dr. Mohammed Lawal Rimin Zayam.
The development was contained in a statement issued on Friday by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado.
According to the statement, the decision forms part of the administration’s ongoing efforts to reposition the State Executive Council for more effective governance.
“As part of the adjustments, the Honourable Commissioner for Commerce, Industries and Investment, Mohammed Salis Gamawa, and the immediate past Commissioner for Education, who was subsequently reassigned to the Ministry of Power, Science and Technology, Dr. Mohammed Lawal Rimin Zayam, are to exit the State Executive Council with immediate effect,” the statement read.
Governor Mohammed also accepted the resignation of the former Commissioner for Rural Development and Special Duties, Hon. Faruk Mustapha, who recently emerged as the running mate to the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Muhammad Abdullahi Abubakar, SAN.
Gidado stated that, in line with the administration’s commitment to continuity and efficiency in governance, the names of the proposed replacements, alongside other nominees to fill vacancies created by the earlier exit of some commissioners, have been forwarded to the Bauchi State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation.
Governor Mohammed expressed appreciation to the outgoing commissioners for their dedication, commitment, and contributions to the development of Bauchi State during their tenure.
He wished them success in their future endeavours and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to building a more responsive, effective, and results-oriented government for the benefit of the people of the state.
