Nigerian singer Bella Shmurda has appealed to the public for help after allegedly losing $4 million in a disputed property transaction in Lagos.
The singer, whose real name is Abiola Akinbiyi, broke down in tears during an Instagram Live session on Tuesday while recounting how he allegedly paid for a house that did not belong to the seller.
Bella Shmurda claimed that he only recently discovered that the property had been stolen and that the person who sold it to him had disappeared after collecting the money.
“Nigeria, I need your help. I’m not doing okay right now,” the visibly emotional singer said.
“I spent $4 million of my own hard-earned money, only to find out I bought stolen property.”
He expressed fear that he might never recover the money, which he said represented years of work.
“And now the seller has disappeared. Please, help me. Someone step in. I’ve got nothing left,” he said.
“I worked for years for this. I can’t lose $4 million like that.”
Bella Shmurda said he had contacted his lawyer to investigate the ownership of the property and the circumstances surrounding the transaction.
“I just contacted my lawyer for further investigation,” he added.
The singer did not disclose the identity of the alleged seller, the location of the property or documents connected to the transaction.
His allegations have not been independently verified, while law enforcement authorities and other parties connected to the purported sale have yet to respond publicly.
