President Tinubu.
Women in Akwa Ibom, under the aegis of the Itu Women Stakeholders Forum, have unanimously endorsed President Bola Tinubu for the 2027 general elections.
The women also endorsed Sen. Godswill Akpabio and Gov. Umo Eno for a second term.
The endorsement took place at Mbak Itam in Itu Local Government Area of the state on Tuesday during a grassroots women empowerment programme and award presentation.
The endorsement followed a motion moved by former House of Assembly member Dr Ekaette Okon and seconded by Ms Princess Uboh, a counselor in the Itu Legislative Council.
The Chairman of the Forum’s Board of Trustees, Mrs Grace Ekong, said the organisation was established to mobilise and empower grassroots women to support government programmes.
Ekong, the former Secretary to the State Government, said that the women were committed to ensuring overwhelming electoral support for the APC in the 2027 polls.
“We produced them in 2023, and we are set to support them again in 2027. We also want them to remember the women of Itu when they return to office.
“We stand with them and will ensure that the volume of votes from Itu Local Government Area is commendable,” Ekong said.
Earlier, the President of the Itu Women Stakeholders Forum, Mrs Inemesit Eduok, described the gathering as a demonstration of unity and confidence in the APC.
Eduok said that the endorsed candidates had shown the capacity to provide purposeful leadership and deliver greater dividends of democracy to the people.
She said that empowering women remained critical to economic growth, social stability and sustainable community development.
