Spain dominated the individual award categories at the 2026 World Cup, with Rodri being named the player of the tournament after leading his country to the trophy on Sunday.
Rodri was the mastermind of the Spanish midfield in North America and deservedly took the adidas Golden Ball Award for the tournament’s best player, as the European champions took the trophy for a second time.
He played all eight games for La Roja and was influential for Luis de la Fuente’s side, which also made history by becoming the first World Cup-winning side to concede one goal in an entire competition.
Although France fell short and lost to England in the third-place play-off, Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappe collected the Golden Boot as the highest scorer after netting ten goals in just eight matches.
Spain’s Unai Simón was awarded the Golden Glove. He recorded seven clean sheets in eight matches to land the prize. His compatriot, Pau Cubarsi, clinched the FIFA Best Young Player Award.
