Mojtaba Khamenei vows to avenge father’s death in message released during funeral ceremonies

Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, has pledged to avenge the killing of his father, the late Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, declaring that retribution is both “the demand of the nation” and an inevitable outcome.

The statement, released through Mojtaba Khamenei’s official Telegram channel, coincided with ongoing funeral ceremonies honouring the former Supreme Leader, who was killed in the February 28 U.S.-Israeli airstrikes that triggered the recent regional conflict.

In the written message, the new Iranian leader vowed that those responsible for the deaths of his father and others killed during the conflict would be held accountable.

“We pledge to avenge the blood of the martyred leader and all the martyrs of these two wars from the criminal and disgraced killers,” the statement read.

Khamenei further suggested that supporters of Iran around the world would play a role in carrying out what he described as a divine mission.

“Whether we are here or not, this will be achieved, and soon individuals among the freedom-seekers across the world will each carry out part of this divine mission,” he stated.

The message marks one of Mojtaba Khamenei’s strongest public remarks since assuming Iran’s highest leadership position following his father’s death.
