NCDMB Equips 50 Rivers Youths With High-Demand Digital Skills, Starter Kits

The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), in partnership with AFN Global Services Limited, has equipped 50 youths in Rivers State with high-demand digital and technical skills, alongside starter kits, to boost self-employment and expand Nigeria’s skilled workforce.

The beneficiaries completed a 10-day intensive training programme in Port Harcourt on the installation and repair of DSTV, CCTV cameras and Starlink systems, acquiring practical skills needed in the country’s fast-growing telecommunications, security and digital services sectors.

Held from June 29 to July 10, 2026, the programme combined classroom instruction with hands-on practical sessions covering satellite television installation, CCTV surveillance systems, Starlink deployment, fault diagnosis, cable management, signal optimisation and customer service.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, the Managing Director of AFN Global Services Limited, Francess Aniemeke, urged the participants to maximise the opportunity by building sustainable businesses and creating value in their communities.

“This programme is about more than training. It is about empowering you to create value, generate income, and contribute to national development,” she said.

To ensure immediate take-off, each of the 50 graduates received a complete set of training kits and starter tools to begin offering installation and maintenance services.

The beneficiaries expressed appreciation to NCDMB and AFN Global Services, describing the initiative as life-changing and saying the skills acquired would enable them to become self-reliant while improving access to quality technical services in Rivers State and beyond.

The programme forms part of NCDMB’s ongoing commitment to human capital development and its drive to deepen Nigerian content participation in technical, digital and technology-driven service sectors.
