The Nigeria Police Force, under the leadership of Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu, paid a total of N1.74 billion in a single day for the procurement of 10 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado V6 2024 model vehicles, according to payment records.
Data published by socio accountability platform, Govspend and reviewed by SaharaReporters show that on May 9, 2026, two separate payments of N868.697 million each were made under “Police formations and commands” to Mujaf Automobile Nigeria Ltd.
Both transactions carried the same description: “Being payment for the supply of 5 nos. Toyota Landcruiser Prado V6 2024 model to the Nigeria Police Force.”
The two payments, made on the same date, brought the total amount disbursed for the procurement of 10 vehicles to N1.737 billion.
This would mean that each Toyota Prado on the average cost N173.7 million based on the estimate of the money paid by the police force.
The transactions took place less than three months after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu appointed Disu as the Acting Inspector-General of Police on February 24, 2026, following the exit of former Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun.
Disu was decorated and formally assumed office at the Louis Edet House, Abuja, on February 25, while the Nigeria Police Council unanimously confirmed his appointment on March 2, 2026.
Previously, SaharaReporters reported that the Nigeria Police Force under erstwhile Inspector General, Egbetokun spent over N239.4 million in 2025 on the purchase of food items, including cartons of tinned fish, biscuits, Ovaltine, milk, Milo and canned baked beans.
The payments, listed under “Police formations and commands,” show multiple transactions made to different vendors for what were described as dry rations supplied to personnel deployed for security surveillance operations across various geo-political zones.
According to the portal, on June 30, 2025, police formations and commands paid Oran Global Investment Limited N8.4 million for the supply of “Eighty cartoons of geisha and other items as dry ration to personnel on security surveillance operations in the north-west geo political zone.”
On November 11, 2025, the police paid Chiomstic Resources the sum of N19.6 million, described as “being payment for the supply of 100no cartons of Ovaltine nutritious, 100 no cartons of corn flakes, 103no cartons of geisha and others.”
A day later, on November 12, 2025, police formations and commands paid Oran Global Investment Limited N23.2 million for payment “for the supply of 150 ctns of geisha, 100 ctns of can bake beans and dry rations items to personnel on sec. surv. operations in the north-west geo-pol. zone.”
Further entries show that on December 27, 2025, Police formations and commands paid Elasoptic Ventures Ltd N21.6 million, described as “payment for the supply of 150 no of cartons of geisha, 100 nos cartons of can baked bean and 2” other items.
On the same day, December 27, 2025, Danlokey Systems Limited received N21.6 million for “payment for the supply of 100ctns of geisha, 150ctns of can baked beans, 100 cream cracker biscuit & other items.”
Earlier, on December 18, 2025, Danlokey Systems Limited was paid N21.6 million for “payment for the supply of 150 cartons geisha, 100 cartons of can bake beans, 100 cartons of cream cracker biscuit and others.”
