Notorious bandit kingpin, Sani Yellow debunks death rumour [Video]

Notorious bandit kingpin, Alhaji Sani Yellow, has dismissed reports of his death.

A video, shared on X on Wednesday by a user identified as Mobilisingnigerians, featured Sani Yellow denying claims that he was killed during a recent security operation in Zamfara State.

According to a message accompanying the video, reports of his death stemmed from a case of mistaken identity.

The post stated: “UPDATE: Alhaji Sani Yellow posted a video denying his death that occurred 2 days ago which was wrongly posted on social media. However, the image of the dead bandit killed is a commander (Yellow) loyal to Gwaska. The name Yellow has become a popular name and a nickname in the banditry world.”

The clarification comes days after reports emerged that a notorious bandit commander identified as Kachalla Sani Yellow had been killed during a security operation in Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

The earlier reports said the bandit, who allegedly coordinated several attacks along the Anka–Bagega Road, was killed during a confrontation involving the Maiduguri Special Vigilantes supporting ongoing counter-banditry operations.

His body was subsequently displayed to residents in Anka as proof of the operation’s success.

However, the latest video suggests the slain individual was another bandit commander known by the nickname “Yellow” and said to be loyal to a bandit leader identified as Gwaska, rather than the notorious kingpin, Alhaji Sani Yellow.

Authorities have yet to issue an official statement clarifying the identity of the bandit killed in the operation.
