President Bola Tinubu, Governor Seyi Makinde and security agencies have been commended for the roles they played in rescuing the abducted pupils and teachers from schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
A Pro-Yoruba group, Yoruba Leaders of Thought (YLT), which gave the commendation, said the success of the rescue operation attests to its efforts to make the country safe and peaceful for all.
The body in a statement signed by its National Secretary, Mr Bayo Aina, said, “The operation, which involved all security agencies, vigilantes and the Amotekun security outfit, as a reflection of the good work the Nigerian Armed Forces have been doing to make the country safe in the face of the escalated activities of bandits across the nation.
“It is heartwarming that our security agencies were able to rescue these children and their teachers, who have been in captivity for over 56 days.
“This singular action has made us proud of our military and further assured Nigerians that we are a military that is capable of protecting lives and properties in the country.
We lauded their effort, just as we commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his leadership qualities”.
While commiserating with the families of the late Mr Michael Oyedokun and other security officers who lost their lives during the operation, the group called on the federal government to immortalise the teachers killed while in captivity and the army officer, Lt Isaac, killed during the rescue operation.
The Prince Tajudeen Olusi-led group, which described the intervention of the security agents as top-notch, said it is heartwarming to know that no ransom was paid for the release of the abductees.
The Yoruba leaders who hailed the multi-dimensional approach adopted by the military in the rescue operation urged the federal government to employ the same in securing the release of other abductees in other parts of the country.
