Jake Paul said he will not fight elite heavyweights again after suffering a broken jaw in a sixth-round knockout loss to Anthony Joshua on Dec. 19 at the Kaseya Center.
Joshua, who outweighed Paul by nearly 27 pounds and held a five-inch height advantage, dropped the cruiserweight four times before referee Christopher Young stopped the bout at 1:31 of Round 6.
Paul, 29, confirmed on Instagram that his jaw was fractured in two places, requiring titanium plates and multiple tooth extractions. He has since undergone months of recovery.
“I just probably will not fight Olympic gold medal heavyweights anymore. I learned my lesson,” Paul said on The Pat McAfee Show.
He added that he expects to return to training soon and is exploring a move to MMA, with Nate Diaz and Brock Lesnar among potential opponents.
Joshua improved to 29-4 (26 KOs) with the victory, his first since stopping Francis Ngannou in 2024, reigniting speculation about a future bout with Tyson Fury.
