Residents of Romi and other benefiting communities in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State have commended the state government for its ongoing road construction projects, describing them as a major step toward improving transportation, economic activities, and the overall quality of life.

Speaking during an inspection of the projects, the Managing Director of Kaduna Roads Agency, Abdullahi Baba- Ahmed, assured residents that the roads were being constructed to durable standards, expressing confidence that most of the projects would be completed before the end of the rainy season.

Residents who spoke on the development praised the government’s commitment to infrastructure renewal, saying the projects would address longstanding challenges caused by poor road networks.

A community member, Mr. Nuhu Shagaya, described the projects as people-oriented.

He noted that the roads would facilitate the movement of farm produce, improve access to schools, markets, healthcare facilities, and other essential services.

Shagaya recalled that years of poor roads and seasonal flooding had hindered movement and threatened homes in the area.

While commending the government, he appealed for urgent intervention to tackle erosion and improve drainage systems in affected residential communities.

The Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Romi Chapter, Rev. Stephen Ibrahim, also lauded the governor for fulfilling his promise to rehabilitate the area’s road network.

He said residents had endured years of neglect but now had renewed hope as construction work progressed.

According to Ibrahim, the quality of work already executed demonstrates the government’s commitment to delivering lasting infrastructure that will improve living conditions for residents.

The community’s Youth Leader, Michael Yahya, observed that successive administrations had failed to address the area’s road challenges despite repeated appeals.

He expressed optimism that the ongoing projects would stimulate economic growth, attract investment, and create employment opportunities for young people.

Also speaking, Chairman of the community committee liaising with the contractor, Rev. Adam Bello, described the road projects as transformational.

He said Romi had long been neglected despite its location within the Kaduna metropolis, adding that the new roads would enhance the community’s image and restore residents’ confidence in government.

Bello pledged the community’s continued support for the administration, while another resident, Mrs. Mercy Bulus, thanked the governor for initiating the projects.

She said the improved roads would boost business activities, ease transportation, and make daily life more convenient for residents.

The road projects are expected to improve connectivity, enhance economic development, and provide lasting benefits for communities across the area once completed.
