Senate confirms Zainab Marwa as NDDC Governing Board member

The Senate on Wednesday confirmed the appointment of Dr Zainab Marwa as a member of the Governing Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, representing North-East geo-political zone.

Marwa’s confirmation followed the presentation and adoption of the report of Committee on NDDC by Senator Patrick Ndubueze, APC-Imo, at plenary on Wednesday.

Presenting the report, Ndubueze said President Bola Tinubu had forwarded Marwa’s nomination to the Senate, where it was referred to the committee for legislative action.

He said that the committee conducted an open screening of the nominee to assess her competence, integrity, experience and preparedness for the position.

The senator said that the committee found Marwa qualified for the appointment after reviewing her credentials and all relevant documents.

“Having carefully screened the nominee and considered all relevant documents submitted, the committee is satisfied that she possesses the requisite qualifications, experience, integrity and competence required for the appointment

“Accordingly, the committee recommends that the senate do confirm the appointment of Dr Zainab Marwa as a member representing the north-east in the governing board of the Niger Delta Development Commission, ” he said.

After the confirmation, the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, in his remarks, thanked the committee on NDDC for the expeditious manner in which the assignment was carried out.

“I thank all my colleagues for their contributions.

“I wish the confirmed nominee, Dr Zainab Marwa, well as a member of the governing board of the Niger Delta Development Commission.

“I hope that her contribution will enhance the development and progress of the Niger Delta region,” he said.
