Shettima’s Retention As APC VP Candidate Excites Govs

Adamawa State governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, and Kano State governor, Abba Yusuf have congratulated Vice President Kashim Shettima on his retention as the All Progressives Congress (APC) vice presidential candidate alongside President Bola Tinubu for the 2027 presidential election.

In a statement issued on Saturday by his Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou, Governor Fintiri described the APC’s decision to retain the Tinubu-Shettima ticket as a vote of confidence in the leadership, experience and commitment of the two leaders, who secured victory for the party in the 2023 presidential election.

The governor said the retention of the vice president reflects the trust reposed in him by President Tinubu and the leadership of the APC, noting that it also recognises his loyalty, competence and dedication to the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Governor Fintiri commended Shettima’s contributions to governance since assuming office, describing him as a statesman, bridge-builder and committed public servant whose efforts toward national cohesion and effective policy implementation have earned widespread recognition.

He expressed confidence that the Vice President would continue to leverage his experience as a former two-term Governor of Borno State and Nigeria’s Vice President to advance the country’s development.

The governor also prayed for God’s continued guidance, wisdom, good health and strength for Senator Shettima as he continues to serve the nation.

On his part, the Kano State governor, Abba Yusuf, conveyed his goodwill following a Friday night visit to Aguda House, Presidential Villa, Abuja.

According to a statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Dawakin Tofa, Yusuf paid homage to Shettima after his nomination for the forthcoming election.

Yusuf congratulated the vice president and described his nomination as deserved recognition of his commitment, dedication and selfless service to Nigeria.

He said Shettima’s selection reflected confidence in his leadership abilities and acknowledged his contributions to national development over the years.

The governor prayed for divine guidance, wisdom and good health for President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima ahead of the 2027 general election.
