Nigerian singer Joshua Iniyezo, popularly known as Solidstar has spoken on the impact of afrobeats in the Nigerian music industry.
The artist via his X handle, claimed that the rise of afrobeats greatly affected the quality of music. He stressed that most artists now chase trends over the quality of music.
Solidstar also added that afrobeats made Nigerian musicians to confine themselves to just one genre.
“Nigerian musicians aren’t versatile. Stocked on one genre (AFROBEATS). Nothing like AFROBEATS when I came out fully in 2009/2010, Fuji was even huge! Make dem stop overrating nonsense and start selling good music”, he wrote.
