English Premier League side Brentford have promoted Super Eagles defender Benjamin Fredrick to their first-team roster in preparation for the 2026/27 season.
The club also announced that the centre-back has signed a new four-year contract, which includes an option for an additional year, on its official website.
The 21-year-old has joined Keith Andrews’ squad during the pre-season as he gears up for his next challenge after securing a position among Brentford’s senior players.
Fredrick’s advancement marks a significant milestone in his growth at the club, following a commendable period with Brentford’s development team and his loan experience in Belgium.
He was loaned to FCV Dender for the 2025/26 season, where he made 15 appearances in both the Belgian Pro League and the Croky Cup, although his season was unfortunately curtailed by a knee injury.
This injury was a frustrating hurdle for the young defender, who had been making strides with both his club and the national team.
Fredrick’s injury stopped him from participating with the Super Eagles in important qualifying matches, as he had begun to establish himself as one of Nigeria’s promising defensive talents.
During his recovery, he missed crucial international opportunities, including Nigeria’s plans to include him in significant matches.
Now that he has returned to full fitness, he is poised to compete for a spot in Brentford’s first-team and to reclaim his position within the national team framework.
Fredrick’s new contract and promotion to the first team underscore Brentford’s faith in his potential as he embarks on this new phase of his career.
