Troops of the 247 Reconnaissance Battalion have intercepted 15 jerrycans of Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, popularly known as petrol, during a fighting patrol in Mubi North Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
This was disclosed in a statement by security expert, Zagazola Makama on Sunday.
Zagazola said that the operation was conducted between 10:30 a.m. and 3:40 p.m. on July 17 along the Muchalla road, following intelligence on the smuggling of petroleum products through the border corridor.
He said the troops intercepted 15 jerrycans containing suspected smuggled PMS during the patrol.
According to him, the products were seized in line with ongoing efforts to curb the illegal movement of fuel, which is often diverted to support criminal and terrorist activities.
“The intercepted petroleum products have been taken into custody for further necessary action, while troops continue to intensify border patrols to disrupt the logistics networks of criminal elements operating within the North-East,” he said.
