Village Head Killed As Suspected Bandits Attack Communities In Kano’s Tsanyawa LGA

A village head has been killed following an attack by suspected armed bandits on communities in Tsanyawa Local Government Area of Kano State.

The incident was first reported through a series of updates posted on Facebook by Tsanyawa Reporters on Wednesday evening.

According to one of the posts, the village head of Taka-tsaba was killed during the attack.

“Indeed, we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we shall return. Suspected bandits have killed the village head of Taka-tsaba in Tsanyawa Local Government Area.”

The group also reported that women and children were fleeing from Zakawa and other surrounding villages to Tsanyawa town after the attackers invaded their communities.

“At the moment, women and children are fleeing to Tsanyawa town from Zakawa and other villages where armed bandits have invaded.”

In another update, the group said the attackers stormed Zakawa in the Yankamaye district and another community in the local government, making away with more than 100 cattle.

However, the post said security operatives responded swiftly and recovered the rustled livestock.  “Our correspondents in the community have confirmed that bandits rustled more than 100 cattle. However, praise be to God, security personnel were able to recover them. We commend the security operatives for their efforts and pray that Allah continues to protect and strengthen them.”

Efforts to obtain comments from the Kano State Police Command were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.
