Oyo abduction: Eight schoolchildren still receiving treatment as hospital discharges 31

Thirty-one of the 39 pupils rescued from kidnappers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State have been discharged by the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH, Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso.

The students and teachers, who were kidnapped on 15th May 2026 were rescued on 10th July.

It was learnt that they first received medical attention at the Military Hospital in Ibadan before they were handed over to Oyo State government on Monday.

DAILY POST reports that the victims were thereafter moved to LAUTECH Teaching Hospital for further medical attention.

Our correspondent gathered on Wednesday that 31 of the students have been discharged by the hospital.

It was learnt that eight of the students that need further medical attention are still in the hospital.

Public Relations Officer of the hospital, Omotayo Ogunleye, confirmed the development on Wednesday.

Ogunleye in a telephone interview with DAILY POST, noted that the remaining eight students will soon be discharged.

Ogunleye, who did not provide further details about the health conditions of the students, noted that they are still receiving treatment.

He said, “Thirty-one children have been released. Eight children are still undergoing medical observation.

“Those ones are going to be discharged any time soon.”
