Six teams have been eliminated from the Round of 16 stage at the 2026 FIFA World Cup tournament.
This follows the USA’s Round of 16 defeat against Belgium earlier today.
A brace from Charles De Ketelaere and a goal each from Hans Vanaken and Romelu Lukaku ensured Belgium defeated the co-host nation 4-1 to progress to the quarter-final stage.
As a result, the USA is now the latest team to exit the World Cup tournament after losing to Belgium.
They now join Portugal, who were eliminated from the Round of 16 after losing 1-0 against Spain on Monday night.
Recall that Spain defeated Portugal, thanks to Mikel Merino’s only goal of the encounter.
The other four teams that have already exited the competition in the Round of 16 are Canada, Brazil, Paraguay, and Mexico.
